Don’t ever visit Gerry’s Grill when it’s less than 2 hours before closing time. You are forewarned that they are only taking “last orders”, and chances are it will take them more than 5 minutes to do such a simple thing as handing you the menu. That is exactly what happened to me, and that is after asking 4 waiters for it!
All the staff were apparently packing up and preparing to go, all in a stressful rush-rush atmosphere. Had they given me the menu earlier, with which I could have made my order in a few seconds, considering that it’s my “last order”, they could have done with me quickly so that they may go back to whatever it is they had been hustling about.
If ever I’m going back there, it’s only because their beer costs PhP36, a little lower than mall standards, and their food servings are relatively generous for their prices.
A couple of weeks ago, in the same Gerry’s Grill branch, my cousin-in-law almost got into a fight because of some waiter’s oversight. He moved a customer’s chair towards my cousin-in-law while the customer went to the john. My innocent cousin-in-law, who just came with relatives and did not know that someone was still using that chair, assumed that the waiter was handing him the chair and pulled it towards their table as they were one seat short (for me).
The unseated customer returned and saw that his chair had been sequestered, and made a lot of fuss about that, indirectly castigating our group. This, despite the availability of empty chairs at their table! There was a brief squabble between the unseated customer and my cousin-in-law (one who never backs out of a fight, even if he just had a mild stroke). Fortunately, the cooler minds amongst the companions of the antagonists butted in.
Yes, I agree that the said customer was a jerk, but this would not have happened if the waiter had been a little more careful. Again, it’s the rush-rush mode that got the Gerry’s Grill staff into trouble.
